WordPress powers a huge share of the web, and on cPanel hosting you can install it in a few clicks — no FTP uploads, no manual database setup. This guide shows the exact steps using Softaculous, the 1-click app installer included with every Hostingsubidha plan.
Before you start
- An active hosting plan and your cPanel login (sent in your welcome email).
- A domain that points to your hosting. Not sure? Read how to point your domain to your hosting and confirm it with our DNS Checker.
- Optional but recommended: an SSL certificate, so your site loads on
https://. See free SSL in cPanel.
Install WordPress with Softaculous
- Log in to cPanel. Open the cPanel link from your welcome email, or log in to the Client Area and open your hosting service.
- Open Softaculous. In cPanel, find the Software section and click Softaculous Apps Installer, then click the WordPress icon.
- Click “Install Now”. Softaculous shows the installation form.
- Choose the protocol and domain. Select
https://(if SSL is active) and your domain. Leave In Directory empty to install WordPress on the main domain instead of a sub-folder. - Set site details. Enter your site name and description — you can change both later from the WordPress dashboard.
- Create the admin account. Choose a unique admin username (not “admin”), a strong password and an email address you can access.
- Pick plugins (optional). If the LiteSpeed Cache option is available, enable it — our servers run LiteSpeed, so this plugin gives you server-level page caching.
- Click Install. After a minute you'll see the site URL and the admin URL (
yourdomain.com/wp-admin).
What to do after installing
- Log in to
/wp-adminand remove the sample post and page. - Set permalinks to “Post name” (Settings → Permalinks) for clean, SEO-friendly URLs.
- Install a theme and only the plugins you really need — fewer plugins means a faster, safer site.
- Configure LiteSpeed Cache (default settings are a good start).
- Keep everything updated — WordPress core, themes and plugins.
Common problems
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Site shows a “Not secure” warning | Run AutoSSL in cPanel, then reinstall or change the WordPress URL to https://. |
| Domain doesn't open the new site | DNS may still be propagating — check with the DNS Checker. |
| “Directory not empty” error | Remove the old index.html from public_html or install into an empty folder. |
